Shooting from the hip like they do in Westerns is a great way to miss everything. Holding a pistol sideways looks cool until you realize the sights don't work that way. And my personal favorite, shooting the gun out of someone's hand. That's not a thing, that's not how any of this works. Entertainment isn't training!

Sadly, it occurred at least once on video and wackadoodles like to reference this when saying 'see you can do it'. Needless to say, this is not a thing, but idiots keep insisting on it.

(I'm almost positive there is another old one with a small child hostage that I watched many years back as well. But like many things it gets buried in search engine results as time passes. Still looking.)

Watching how they handle guns on TV is just comedy. All the hip shooting, sideways Glocks even shooting guns right out of someone's hand. If you take that entertainment seriously, it could absolutely get you killed.

Yeah movies amplify exceptions but real shooting is consistent mechanics, not lucky one-in-a-million moments.

Yeah, stuff like that gets weaponized out of context even when reality doesn’t back it up.
