I have a Mossberg 500 and want to set it up better for home defense, I went to a shotgun course last weekend and realized my stock setup isn't ideal and there are endless modification options out there, I need to know what upgrades is essential? I am trying to spend money on things that actually improve functionality

First essentials are better stock for proper fit and recoil management, and a high-quality weapon light. Skip the tactical lasers and follow that up with a reliable sidesaddle for essential ammo capacity

A good weapon light and a reliable side-saddle for extra shells are essential functional upgrades. After that, look into an improved, adjustable stock (like Magpul SGA) and better sights like a tritium bead or ghost ring

Get a stock that fits, a real light and shells you trust. Skip tacticool bling and unicorn lasers. Train with the setup, not for the Instagram photo

Any specific stock models or lights you’d recommend?

I’ll look at Magpul SGA and a tritium bead or ghost-ring setup. Thanks!
