That’s a great one. Food has a way of locking memories in place. Pepper soup after a successful hunt sounds like a tradition worth passing down.My granddad made pepper soup after every hunt when he got something. He loved it, so it became a special treat and a thing we did after hunting.
Those end-of-trip meals always taste better somehow, no matter what’s in the pot. “Bullshit” is a legendary nameLike Magnus above, mine is a food thing:
On the last day out we would combine our various meal leftovers into the final morning's meal as an egg scramble. Could be pork, steak, chicken, rabbit, veggies, etc. Whatever leftovers got chopped and dumped in the pot as a mystery scramble.
It was named 'Bullshit' after one of the boys looked in the pot the first time it was made and said "What is this bullshit?". Ta da! A tradition was born.
