I'd love to hear about everyone's first handguns! Do you still have it? How do you feel about that first choice looking back? Share any stories or photos if you have them!

Mine was a Ruger Standard .22 pistol. I now wish I still had it but I turned into a class3 firearm by removing the barrel and installing a new one with an integral silencer. I later sold it when I got out of the class 3 business.

I do ... Was my grandfather's, High Standard HD military, with ugly white plastic grips that got replaced.

First one I bought, Ruger Single Six, still have that as well.

Beretta 92F in the late 80s. Still have it. Its seen a lot of miles and more cases of ammo than I'd like to think about. Still runs like topless tank. :)

Original grips replaced with those paccy Beretta branded grips at some point early on.

Ruger .22LR/.22 Mag. Put blanks in it when my 13 son wanted to go shooting and teased him about being a terrible shot. I then fired one round and knocked over two cans on each side of the middle can. Don't ask how I did it cuz I still don't know how that happened. Years later he was visiting and I told him he could have anything of mine in the house. He had a good memory of going out shooting together, so he asked for my Ruger. Years later, I got another one as I missed shooting with one. Fun gun!

I have 2 "first handguns". My first handgun I bought with my own money aprox 35 years ago is a Glock 22 Gen2. Bought it brand new as at the time I had heard too many stories of people surviving gunshots via a 9mm. I still have the gun, the original tupperware case and other items except the original mags. I replaced the original mags with newer improved Glock mags and sold off the originals.

My first used gun I purchased from my father... no he didn't give me too many things like this. I had to buy it. It is a Ruger MK1 pistol. Still have it along with the original box and pretty sure the paperwork. My dad bought the gun brand new in 1981.

While not a handgun, my first firearm was received for my 13th bday. A hunting rifle. My parents bought and gave me a Remington Model 700BDL in 6mm Remington and a Redfield 3x9 scope. Still have that as well. It was not a secret he was getting me a rifle for my 13th and wanted to get me a Ruger m77 as it was less expensive but I kept telling him I really like the stock and jeweled bolt on the Remington. He got me the Ruger despite what I had said and when I opened it he saw the disappointment. Took it back the next day and came home with the 700BDL. I am now 57yrs old and don't see a circumstance that I would ever sell my bday present.
