I once got a boot that claimed to be waterproof but the first creek crossing and my feet were soaked..marketing lies! Do truly waterproof boots exist?

“Waterproof” apparently means waterproof until the exact moment you need them most

True waterproof boots are out there but half the battle is remembering gaiters and avoiding sneaky stream betrayals.

Waterproof can be a marketing term where they mean water resistant. Only real “waterproof” would be some muck boots.

Some Gortex boots do well keeping water out. However anything that keeps water out, keeps water in. Which could make other problems. Not all gortex booties in boots are equal, and not all processes of gluing are equal.

Exactly, “waterproof” gets tossed around loosely; breathability, construction quality and real-world conditions matter just as much.
