Practiced fire starting without a lighter last weekend and it took me 20 minutes and a lot of frustration. That's now a skill I'm actively working on

Years ago I started one with the drill and bow method, found it surprisingly easy.

I save dryer lint and soak in petroleum jelly works great for fire starter. And it's cheaper than buying cotton balls, I think I have a lifetime supply.
Use to save the cotton that can't in my medication bottles, haven't seen any in as while though.

Heh. Now I can tell my wife I'm not the only dryer lint hoarder :)

I collected so much over the years that I started vacuum sealing it into flat packs to save space.
